About
Mission
In order to make Osaka University a leading innovative university that contributes to social change, the Office of Management and Planning implements the “URA activities” which operate alongside researchers and provide support that suits the researchers’ capabilities, and the “IR activities” which use various data to carry out evidence-based analyses of the strengths and weaknesses of the university, and through the systematic combination of the two activities (URA×IR activities), promote the strengthening of management capabilities with a focus on strengthening research capabilities.

Organizational Structure

Planning Section
We create strategies and offer propositions to the executive members in order to improve the
university’s research capabilities.
To this end, we perform the necessary information analysis and measure planning, as well as engage
in the systematization of URAs, enhance the quality of the URA function, and plan human resources
development.
Evaluation Section
Evaluation is more than just giving a rating. It is a systematic series of actions that understand
and analyze the status and results of activities such as policies, measures, and operations, and
utilized in management and future activities, as well as presented to various stakeholders to seek
their understanding and support.
We respond to publicly mandated university evaluations such as corporate evaluations and certified
evaluations and accreditation, and aim to develop an internal quality assurance system centered
around self-assessment evaluation.
Furthermore, with our expertise, we provide support for various evaluations both within and outside
the university.
Research Management and Administration Section
We are engaged in planning various research promotion measures aimed at strengthening the
institution’s research capabilities through the collection and analysis of trends in national
policy, domestic and international research, and researchers, information on funding agencies, and
listening to the voices of the researchers within the university.
Based on these efforts, researchers, administrative staff, and URA work together to create
cross-disciplinary and inter-institutional projects led by researchers from Osaka University and
centered on base and unit formation.
Institutional Research Section
We support the decision-making of the executive members through the collection, analysis, and
provision of various data, including activities of OU and the institution’s surrounding environment,
and are working on university-wide management reforms centered on strengthening IR-driven research
capabilities.
In addition to data analysis, by working together with the researchers to plan and promote
large-scale research projects oriented toward solving social issues, we strive to create an
institution that connects the university and society, contributes to solving social issues, and
creates value.
