Director of the Office of Management and Planning at The University of Osaka, 近藤 勝義

Since its establishment in April 2016, the Office of Management and Planning has been actively supporting The University of Osaka's governance and researchers by gathering and analyzing key information for strategic planning, proposing initiatives, and contributing to a resilient and sustainable society that empowers both life and living.

Led by Senior Executive Vice President Dr. FUJIO Yasushi (University Management, the UOsaka Vision, Co-Creation, and Hospital Management) and Executive Vice President Dr. ONOYE Takao (Research, Information Promotion, and Strategy Development of the Universities for International Research Excellence Initiative), our office has strengthened Institutional Research (IR) functions to offer robust, evidence-based insights into the university's strengths and challenges. We've also enhanced our University Research Administrator (URA) capabilities to support university leadership and researchers.

One of our key initiatives, "URA x IR activities," integrates IR and URA functions. This unique approach leverages both quantitative and qualitative insights to support data-driven decision-making. Looking ahead, our office is committed to demonstrating the value and impact of our work to internal and external stakeholders. I will continue to lead the office in close dialogue with researchers and academic leaders, ensuring we provide timely, relevant, and actionable information for strategic university management.

Our team is committed to making the Office of Management and Planning an essential resource for the entire university community. We will maintain close collaboration with key internal partners, including the Strategic Management Team at the Office of the Provost, the Research Planning Division, and other related departments, fostering greater understanding and collaboration within the university’s borders and beyond them. We appreciate your continued support.
