Akiko Iimura- Senior Advisor

Joined the Ministry of International Trade and Industry (now the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry) in 1994. She held various positions, including Director of Defense Industry, Director of the Technology Strategy Office and Director of the Technology Evaluation Office, Director of the University Collaboration Promotion Office, Counselor at the National center of Incident readiness and Strategy for Cybersecurity, and Head of the Research Strategy Division at the Center for Research Strategy and Industry-Academia Collaboration at Tokyo University of Science. In 2021, she became Director General of the Technology Strategy Center at the New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO) and appointed as Executive Director of NEDO in 2023. In October 2025, she was appointed Senior Planning and Coordination Officer for Innovation Policy at the Innovation and Environment Bureau of METI. In April 2026, she assumed the positions of Senior Vice President at the University of Osaka, as well as an Assistant to the Director of the Co-Creation Organization. She concurrently serves as Deputy Head of the Social Collaboration Office in the Graduate School of Engineering, and Senior Advisor in the Office of Management and Planning.
