He received his Ph.D. in Engineering from Osaka University. He began his career working at Sumitomo Electric Industries in 1988. In 2002, he transitioned to academia, assuming the role of Assistant Professor at the Research Center for Advanced Science and Technology, the University of Tokyo. He became a Professor at Joining and Welding Research Institute, Osaka University in 2006 while concurrently holding administrative positions such as the Senior Advisor to the Executive Director, Vice Director, and Senior Advisor to the President. His noteworthy recognitions include the 2002 Japan Welding Society Paper Award, the 2011 Ichimura Academic Award, the 2014 Commendation for Science and Technology by the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, the 2014 JSPM Award for Distinguished Achievements in Research, and the 2022 Keynote Papers Award from the European Powder Metallurgy Association.

He received his Ph.D. in Engineering from Osaka University. Since 1984, he has steadily advanced at Osaka University, being promoted from an Assistant Professor in the Graduate School of Engineering to an Associate Professor in 1994 and eventually becoming a Professor by 2005. Since April 2021, he has held the position of a Specially Appointed Professor at the Innovative Catalysis Science Division, Osaka University, in the Institute for Open Transdisciplinary Research Initiatives. With roles such as a doctoral research fellowship at the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation (1990-1991) and directorship at the Chemical Society of Japan (2013-2014), he has received numerous accolades, including the Thomson Reuters Research Front Award (2012), The Chemical Society of Japan Award for Creative Work (2013), Green Sustainable Chemistry Award of the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (2014), Humboldt Research Award (2015), The Japan Petroleum Institute Award (2016) and The Chemical Society of Japan Award (2019). His expertise in organic synthetic chemistry aligns with his current role as the Senior Advisor in the Office of Management and Planning since April 2021.

In 1994, he joined the Ministry of International Trade and Industry (now the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry; METI). He has held various roles, including postings at the Mission of Japan to the European Union, JETRO Headquarters, the Reconstruction Agency, the Cabinet Secretariat, and the Asian Development Bank. In 2017, he became the Director of the Technical Cooperation Division, METI, and proceeded to become the Director of the Atomic Disaster Victim Support Team at the Cabinet Office in 2018. In 2021, he assumed the position of Director and Head of the Planning Headquarters at the National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology. He joined the Co-Creation Bureau at Osaka University as the Assistant Director in April 2023 while concurrently serving as the Head of the Osaka University 2025 Japan International Exposition Promotion Office, Deputy Head of the Social Collaboration Office in the Graduate School of Engineering, and Senior Advisor in the Office of Management and Planning, Osaka University.

He received his B.E., M.E., and Ph.D. degrees in systems engineering from Kobe University. Since 1986, he had been mainly engaging in the research and development of communication systems at NTT Electrical Communication Laboratories, and later involving in the management of information systems' development projects at NTT. Since 2015, he has been working for Osaka University toward the enhancing of the university's management and research capabilities.

He completed MSc in Management Science at The University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology (UMIST, currently known as The University of Manchester). While he had worked for nearly 30 years in finance and real estate-related fields at a financial think tank and an international consulting firm, he had been engaged, as a part-time lecturer, in career education for over 10 years in total at Otsuma Women's University and Kyoto University of Advanced Science. After working as a specially appointed professor at Kobe University since September 2023, he started his current career as a senior research manager at the University of Osaka in April 2025.

He received his Ph.D. from Tokyo Institute of Technology in the field of Industrial Engineering and Management in 1998. Dr. Takahiro Saito is Professor of Evaluation in Office of Management and Planning, and Adjunct Professor in Graduate School of Human Science, Osaka University. He has served as an expert on evaluation and quality assurance since 2009. He joined the governmental quality assurance agency for higher education (NIAD-UE) when it was established in 2000. His main contribution was to develop the external quality assurance system for all the universities and colleges. He also served as a member of the Board of Asia Pacific Quality Network (APQN), which is a network of quality assurance agencies for higher education in the Asia Pacific region. He was awarded Commendation for Science and Technology by the Minister of Education in 2016, for his social contribution by the project of programming education in elementary schools.

After completing a Master's degree in Genetic Science at Hiroshima University, she ventured to the United States to work as a Research Assistant at University of Texas Southwestern Medical center. Subsequently, she engaged in a project on neurodegenerative diseases at the Institute of Physiology and Biochemistry at University of Munich, Germany. Following this, she spent four and a half years conducting mitochondrial research at University of Utah in the United States. Upon returning to Japan, she dedicated herself to the quality control of mitochondrial research at National Institute of Basic Biology and obtained Ph.D. at Nagoya University. Transitioning to Tokyo Institute of Technology, she continued mitochondrial research at the Graduate School FBS, Osaka University from 2010 onwards. In 2016, she shifted her focus to research promotion within the Planning and Public Relations Office of the same department. She started her current career in April, 2024.

Katsuji pursued his career at business planning in Sumitomo Electric Industries, Ltd. since 1988, mainly engaging in R & D of energy equipments and new business planning. He received the IEEJ Technical Development Award in 1997, was appointed as a member of the ERAB Committee of the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry in 2016 and part-time lecturer at Osaka University in 2018. After managing as the General Manager of the Planning Department of Energy Systems Division of Sumitomo Electric Industries, Ltd., he joined Osaka University in January 2020. He has qualified licenses as First-class radiation protection supervisor and Qualified person for energy management.

Takashi received his master's degree in environmental science from University of Tsukuba. He joined the non-profit think tank specializing in science　and technology in 1988. He was mainly engaged in research on science and technology policy and R&D systems. In the Delphi survey conducted by the MEXT, he was responsible for the sixth to the ninth survey.
